Affinity’s Unique Respiratory Rehabilitation Program

Affinity’s Unique Respiratory Rehabilitation Program

Affinity Skilled Living and Rehabilitation Center offers a unique Respiratory Rehabilitation Program with the goal to eliminate the use of a ventilator for those recovering from an acute illness and those on prolonged ventilator support.

What makes the program at Affinity unique? It is the program structure. The team at Affinity knows how concerning it is to discharge from a hospital after a severe illness. Their Respiratory Rehabilitation Program is designed to provide aggressive and progressive treatment that will offer peace of mind to families and residents.

Affinity’s Respiratory Rehabilitation Program is headed by Sam Davidoff, DO, D-IM, D-CCM, D-RD. Dr. Davidoff specializes in lung disease, critical care, sleep disorders and neurological critical care conditions. He leads an experienced team of Respiratory Therapists that are in the facility 24 hours a day / 7 days a week, as well as the team of Pulmonologists who round at the facility to care for residents. The team works together with the in-house clinical team to create an individualized plan of care for each resident. The goal is to not only to rebuild the resident’s physical abilities and independence, but to assist those recovering from a severe illness that can potentially be weaned from the ventilator.

In order to provide the skilled care needed for a resident’s chance for recovery, Affinity’s clinical team includes in-facility Board Certified Pulmonolgists / Lung Specialists, Respiratory Therapists, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Registered Dieticians, and other subspecialty physicians including Cardiologists, Nephrologists, Infectious Disease, Surgeons, Psychologists and Neurologists.

Affinity’s program is designed to treat those residents recovering from Critical / Severe Illness, Open Heart Surgery / Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Stroke / Intracranial Hemorrhage, Prolonged Ventilator Support and Respiratory Infections, Brain Surgery and/or Complex Conditions with Multiple Illnesses.

Their in-house Respiratory Team is also available to provide consultations for all in-house residents, as needed, with conditions that may include breathing difficulties, cough, chest pain, CPAP / BiPap adjustment and assistance, and sleep apnea.

Affinity Skilled Living and Rehabilitation Center offers Short-Term & Long-Term Care, Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapy, an on-site Ventilator Unit, Respiratory & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, IV Therapy and Wound Care.
